New Public Representative appointed to the Board of Directors of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Prince Edward Island

Donna MacEwen, QC has been appointed as the Public Representative to the Board of Directors of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Prince Edward Island on March 28, 2022, for a 2-year term.

 

Donna is a Partner with McInnes Cooper Charlottetown and practices in the areas of intellectual property and insurance litigation. She has recently been selected by her peers for inclusion in Best Lawyers in Canada for her practice in intellectual property law and is ranked in the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory. 

Donna has in-depth experience in trademark (TM) prosecution and portfolio management in Canada and extensive insurance experience. She counsels insurers on issues involving insurance coverage and defense of claims, including automobile, property and commercial risks. In addition, Donna has represented insurers before all levels of courts in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick and participated in numerous mediations, both as counsel and as a mediator, and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

She earned her B.Sc., at Mount Allison University in 1986, and achieved her LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick in 1989. She was admitted as a member of the Bar in Ontario (1991), Prince Edward Island (1993) and New Brunswick (2000).

Donna holds a number of professional memberships, and has maintained an active presence in the firm, profession and community. She has volunteered with the Law Society of New Brunswick and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick on their complaints committee, along with numerous other in-house committees at McInnes Cooper.
